This is the first original work that Currence has been able to present to his fans in quite some time. He’s been busy with writing and producing songs for R&B/Pop singers Mya and Ray J, “The Bourne Identity” starring Matt Damon, Hip Hop Producer David Banner, and multi-platinum Grammy and Emmy award-winning producer, Quincy Jones. Currence’s other accolades include winning 2013 Grammy and Dove Awards for his production on Lecrae’s album “Gravity.” More recently, Currence was nominated for a Grammy for writing “Sunday AM” (Pronounced Sunday Morning) for four-time Grammy award-winning singer/songwriter and national recording artist Karen Clark Sheard.
Currence continues to amaze and entertain his fan base regularly; He created a number of online viral cover videos called "The Kawai Kronicles" via his YouTube channel that has earned him countless subscribers and millions of views. Currence has made several national television appearances including ABC’s “The View” and BET’s “106 and Park.” Currence has been eager to produce his own project and is giving listeners something different, a more evolved R&B sound that sizzles with “Royal Blue.”
"I'm really excited about the new single,” says Currence. “It's been a while since I've released original music. I like the fact that the song has an international appeal and upbeat energy but still feels soulful. Thanks to all of my viral cover videos, my fan base has really grown, not just in the United States, but worldwide. With a broader demographic, I wanted to make a record that everybody could relate to but also remind people that there is royalty in all of us."
Currence is a divinely gifted artist and musician (graduated from Furman University with a music degree and is trained extensively in classical piano and voice, jazz, folk, pop, and R&B), and “Royal Blue” is a direct reflection of that tremendous talent.
